Jim Balet

Mr. Balet is a principal and co-founder of Thayer Bancroft Equity Partners and has 15 years of management consulting, operating leadership, financial, and transaction experience. Prior to co-founding Thayer Bancroft Equity Partners Mr. Balet was the founder and President of Pittsburgh Universal, LLC, a company he formed to acquire a nation-wide medical equipment service provider. As President of this company, he directed product development, marketing and strategic partnership efforts that have resulted in significant growth in profitability. He is currently negotiating the sale of this company. During this period, Mr. Balet worked as a founding advisor and member of The Legacy Network dedicated to supporting individuals acquire small businesses for ownership transitions. Prior to this role he worked for four years as a consultant and manager with McKinsey & Company in various client service engagements. His consulting experience spanned a broad array of functions and industries, including: product development, lean manufacturing, service operations, marketing, pricing and organizational design in automotive, transportation, industrial goods and financial services.

Prior to his career in business Mr. Balet served for five years as a logistics officer in the US Marine Corps.

Mr. Balet holds the degrees of Master of Business Administration from Cornell University and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy.

Rich Ryan

Mr. Ryan co-founded Thayer Bancroft Equity Partners with over 15 years of hands on business experience to include private equity transactions and operations, management consulting, senior operating leadership, and board level advisory roles. Prior to co-founding Thayer Bancroft Equity Partners Mr. Ryan was a founder and member of The Legacy Network, a unique partnership of individuals joined to pursue the acquisition of small businesses. In this role, Mr. Ryan led and participated in several complex transactions.

Prior to his work with The Legacy Network, Mr. Ryan acquired Ridgeline Industries, a small struggling manufacturer of specialty military tent products. While still active as president, he has built a platform for continued success in the company.

Prior to this acquisition, Mr. Ryan worked for four years with McKinsey & Company advising senior management on their most challenging problems. His work included operations improvement, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy turnaround, and growth strategy both domestically and abroad.

Mr. Ryan served for 7 years in the aviation branch of the United States Army prior to business school.

Mr. Ryan holds the degrees of Master of Business Administration from Cornell University and Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
